Heart of the Forest: What to Buy First

Every leveled perk's level 1 is free, and costs grow polynomially after that — so wide-and-shallow beats deep-and-narrow early. All numbers below come from the published cost formulas.

Recommended Priority Order

Priority 1

Level 1 of Everything Unlocked

Since level 1 is completely FREE for all perks, unlock everything you have access to immediately for instant, costless stat gains.

Priority 2

Daily Wishes (Tier 3)

Upgrading all 100 levels costs only ~110,682 Whispers. At max level, it turns your first daily chop of each log type into up to +40,000 Whispers, paying for itself in days.

Priority 3

Sweep (Tier 1)

Grants +1 Sweep per level. Early levels are extremely cheap (level 2 is just 27 Whispers), with all 50 levels costing ~1.76M. Upgrade this to hit your next target breakpoint.

Priority 4

Foraging Fortune (Tier 2)

Grants +3 Foraging Fortune per level, costing ~2.11M for all 50 levels. Directly multiplies your log yield and is cheaper than Strength or Speed boosts.

Priority 5

Foraging Madness & Early Bird (Tier 4)

Single-level perks with large flat stat boosts: Foraging Madness (+10 Sweep, +50 Fortune) and Early Bird (+20 Sweep, +100 Fortune for your first 250 daily trees) are highly efficient and effectively active during short daily sessions.

Priority 6

Efficient Forager (Tier 4)

Provides flat Foraging Wisdom to speed up your player XP grind to level 54. Maximize this if your primary objective is leveling up.

Priority 7

Hunter's Luck (Tier 6)

The core source of permanent Hunter Fortune (+1 per level, ~3.68M Whispers for 50 levels). Prioritize this once you start farming monster shards.

Skippable until endgame

  • Forest Strength & Forest Speed: (~7.73M Whispers each) Convert active Strength and Speed stats into Fortune and Sweep. Extremely powerful if you have maxed endgame combat setups, but poor value early on.
  • Duo & Co-op Perks: Ricochet (random throw bounce) and Half Empty / Half Full (requires an adjacent co-op player within 16 blocks to trigger) should only be purchased after basic stats are maxed.
